Cork is naturally anti-bacterial which prevents both fungus and bacteria from growing on the mat which gives you a cleaner experience with no odour from sweat when practicing yoga.
When looked after correctly, your yoga mat will remain in excellent condition for a long time. Your yoga mat is a natural product and the care you put into it will reflect what you get out of it.
When you first receive your mat, gently wipe the cork surface with warm water and a cloth and leave to air dry before rolling up.
When you roll the mat, make sure the cork is on the outside and the rubber on the inside.
Clean your yoga mat by using plain warm water and a gentle cloth, or for a more thorough clean mix a solution of water and vinegar (two parts water to one part vinegar) and gently wipe down with a cloth. Always leave to air dry before rolling.
Don't use any harsh chemicals or harsh scrubs when cleaning.
How much you clean your mat is up to you and depends on how much you use it and how much you sweat. Once a week could be ideal, or a little more or a little less. See how you get on with your yoga mat.
